    Literacy Central Vancouver Island is a fantastic local organization that provides youth, adults and families assistance developing basic reading, writing, math and computer skills. The group offers one-on-one tutoring support, computer literacy programs, essential skills for adults workshops, in-school support, youth interactive programs, tutoring and conversation groups for newcomers, online reading support, and much more. With programs tailored to people of different ages and skill levels.  The group - made up of mostly volunteers - runs the bookstore Well Read Books on Commercial Street in Nanaimo. It sells books donated to it to help fund all these amazing programs.
