Karen Sim

Karen Sim is a Nanaimo-based creature artist and illustrator. Karen works primarily in traditional pencil drawing, though has recently introduced some digital colour work into her lineup as well. Karen is passionate about the psychology behind monster and creature design, with a focus on capturing the little flavours of emotion and humanity within monstrous things.

Karen is also the creator of the original creature character "Oliver the Squonk", whose story is unfolding both online on his dedicated blog, and is also currently being compiled into an original illustrated book.
